Particularly: “The original entry stated that it is "Non-Sino-Vietnamese reading of Chinese 險 (SV: hiểm)", however, this seems to be a misunderstanding, as hiếm is only the Nôm reading of 險, which does not indicate that they have any semantic connection. Yet, listed as one potential origin of the word in question by Anthony Trần Văn Kiệm, the character 儉 could also be a good match, due to its strong relationship in meaning.” |
