Learned borrowing from New Latin encyclopaedia (“general education”), a univerbated form of Koine Greek ἐγκύκλιος παιδείᾱ (enkúklios paideíā), from ἐγκύκλιος (enkúklios) + παιδείᾱ (paideíā).
