[edit]

dằn (, 𢴍, )

  2. to repress (feeling)
  3. to bang down (something out of anger)
  4. to stress (in one's voice)

Usage notes

[edit]

Dằn In the compound adjective dữ dằn "fierce, ferocious" is possibly a fossil and derives from non-Sino-Vietnamese reading of Chinese (3rd Earth Branch; tiger in Chinese zodiac, SV: dần); if so, dữ dằn would have originally meant "fierce, ferocious as a tiger".
