[edit]From Ottoman Turkish باغلانمق (baġlanmaḳ, “to be tied, to be bound”),[1] from Ottoman Turkish باغلامق (baġlamaḳ, “to tie, to fasten”),[2] from Proto-Turkic *baġla- (“to tie”), from Proto-Turkic *baġ (“tying, bond, knot”), with the suffix -la,[3] morphologically bağ + -la + -n + -tı.
