[edit]From Old Irish errach, from Proto-Celtic *wesrakos, enlargement of Proto-Celtic *wesr-, from Proto-Indo-European *wósr̥ (compare Latin vēr, Lithuanian vãsara (“summer”), Polish wiosna, Sanskrit वसन्त (vasanta, “summer”), वसर् (vasar, “in the morning”)). Cognate with Irish earrach and Scottish Gaelic earrach.
