From ad- + Proto-Celtic *rādīti, verbal noun *rādos (compare Old Irish ráidid), from Proto-Indo-European *Hreh₁dʰ- (to perform successfully) (compare Sanskrit राध्नोति (rādhnoti), राध्यति (rādhyati, to perform successfully), Old Church Slavonic радити (raditi, to take care of, work), Gothic 𐍂𐍉𐌳𐌾𐌰𐌽 (rōdjan, to talk), Lithuanian rodýti (to show).
