Add topicExternal link
[edit]Hi! Please don't link to an external site in a translation section. Instead, you may link to it in a ===References=== section at the bottom of an Esperanto entry. Dankon! —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 18:06, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for the advice where to put it.--User:So9q (talk) 18:08, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- Could you provide me with a link to where this has been done? That is a reference to a specific translation in the ===References=== section.--User:So9q (talk) 18:11, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- Well, the translation need not be referenced, merely the sense in the entry to which it refers. Or perhaps I don't understand. What I mean is that the translation is backed up by a sense in the entry, which is in turn ideally backed up by a ===References=== section that has an external link, or alternatively uses a template like
{{Universala Vortaro}}
. - Sorry for being so nitpicky, but I have a couple other requests. For one thing, please use the most correct characters for Esperanto on Wiktionary, so ĉ instead of cx. Also, please specify the gender when you add Swedish translations. Thank you for enduring all this! ;) —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 18:14, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- I think I understand how you want me to use the reference. The best would probably be some template backing upp/clarifying the officiallity of the words. I will probably send you a message when I have fixed it. I have learned swedish as a fifth language and unfortunately don't know (in head) about the right gender. I will find them in some relevant dictionary. Thanks for the advices, I appreciate to have someone checking my edits. :)--User:So9q (talk) 18:25, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- OK, cool. Sorry for conversing in English, but I'm out of practice where Esperanto is concerned and it would take me much longer. You can identify the languages you speak on your userpage using WT:BABEL if you like. That all sounds good, and I've also given you the standard welcome message in a section below this. You don't need to read through everything, but some of it may be helpful to skim through, especially WT:CFI and WT:ELE if you plan of creating entries. Dankon! —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 22:19, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

Welcome
[edit]Welcome!
Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.
If you are unfamiliar with wiki editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.
These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:
- Entry layout explained (ELE) is a detailed policy documenting how Wiktionary pages should be formatted. All entries should conform to this standard. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing page for a similar word, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
- Our Criteria for inclusion (CFI) define exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary, though it may be a bit technical and longwinded. The most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
- If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide to Wikipedia users useful.
- The FAQ aims to answer most of your remaining questions, and there are several help pages that you can browse for more information.
- A glossary of our technical jargon, and some hints for dealing with the more common communication issues.
- If you have anything to ask about or suggest, we have several discussion rooms. Feel free to ask any other editors in person if you have any problems or question, by posting a message on their talk page.
You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage. This shows which languages you know, so other editors know which languages you'll be working on, and what they can ask you for help with.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! If you have any questions, bring them to the Wiktionary:Information desk, or ask me on my talk page. If you do so, please sign your posts with four tildes: ~~~~ which automatically produces your username and the current date and time.
Again, welcome! —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 22:19, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
Fixed "da" what? Tharthan (talk) 01:51, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, I copied the (of time) from the swedish translation manually because the js translation ui does not support adding usage modifiers. I call that a "fix" of da (danish) which until my edit was not clear about how to use "gennem".--So9q (talk) 06:10, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
- No, I get it. I was just making a joke. Your edit summary was "fix da", which could be interpreted as "fix the". :) Tharthan (talk) 17:30, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oh :) Yeah, fix all da errors on this wiki (and adding new ones) is what I do. ;-)--So9q (talk) 07:50, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

Affix translations
[edit]Hi, thank you for adding so many Danish translations! I have a comment about translations that have hyphens in them, like betalings-, which you added to pay. With combining forms in Northern European languages, we don't treat them like true affixes (such as bio-). When you add the translation, you can enter [[betalings]]-
in the bar (or perhaps [[betaling]]s-
is better?). We don't want redlinks for pages that shouldn't be created. Thank you! Ultimateria (talk) 20:18, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for the correction. I will do so in the future.--So9q (talk) 20:21, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
The image you have inserted in the Beer Parlor made your point, but it is intrusive. Could you put that image on a user subpage and link to it from the discussion?
BTW, the discussion really would belong on WT:GP. DCDuring (talk) 09:20, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
- @DCDuring: Fixed a link instead. Should I move the discussion?--So9q (talk) 10:26, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
- Let this one go, but try to think about the best page for each discussion you start. Of course, it soon becomes second nature, though I slip up from time to time and should know better after all this time. DCDuring (talk) 19:44, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
Regarding definitions of obscene terms
[edit]Re: Special:Diff/54189377/54292831 -- obscene terms have obscene definitions, as a descriptive dictionary we do not censor these. I have restored the old definition. — Mnemosientje (t · c) 15:40, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, I have no memory of editing the def also. Do you know why these words are replaced by stars when viewing the page?--So9q (talk) 17:46, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- @So9q They aren't replaced by stars for me; perhaps your browser has an obscenity filter? — Mnemosientje (t · c) 18:33, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
Javascript projects for you
[edit]Hey! I have noticed you have a lot of suggestions in the coding area of the work of what we do here. So I presume you would be happy spending your energy on good deeds that actually matter : ). Instead of minor suggestions how about you rewrite newentrywiz.js? The NEC entry creator is widely used and it is a shame that it is written in a way that it is not maintainable at all with all the inline html's and violations of all sorts of coding standards. Obviously I will help but I no longer have enough time or interest. So are you up for it? Dixtosa (talk) 18:45, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
Passive verbs in Danish
--LA2 (talk) 10:09, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
