• Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy documenting how Wiktionary pages should be formatted. All entries should conform to this standard. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing page for a similar word, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
• Our Criteria for inclusion (CFI) define exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary, though it may be a bit technical and longwinded. The most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
• If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
• The FAQ aims to answer most of your remaining questions, and there are several help pages that you can browse for more information.
• A glossary of our technical jargon, and some hints for dealing with the more common communication issues.
• If you have anything to ask about or suggest, we have several discussion rooms. Feel free to ask any other editors in person if you have any problems or question, by posting a message on their talk page.

Can you please take a look at ܓܘܪܕܡܝܐ?

I know it’s super barbones and incompetent work, but I just wanted to add this cool FWOTD candidate. Can you please clean it up? The references in particular are beyond my capabilities.

Module Error at ܛܘܘܐ

First you created a template that invoked a module that didn't exist. Now you're using parameters that don't exist. It makes about as much sense as attaching a power cord to a picture of a computer and plugging it into an electrical socket. The worst part is that you leave things with module errors. Your edit that caused the module error was a day and a half ago and you've done nothing to fix it or get help from someone who knows how to fix it for you. This has to stop.

A module error is an emergency. It adds the entry to CAT:E to let people know that something is seriously wrong. Cluttering up that category makes it harder to see when edits to templates or modules cause problems or when vandals break things. Normally, I wait for a while when I see something in CAT:E so the person responsible can fix it on their own. If you keep doing this I'm going to start removing or deleting anything of yours with a module error as soon as I find it. A pattern of this kind of irresponsibility could even get you blocked if it goes on long enough. Aramean loans in Malayalam

Would it be better to mark them as loaned from Syriac or from Aramaic? AleksiB 1945 (talk) 09:28, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

There are some Suriyani given names which are currently marked as from Greek as i couldnt find the Syriac versions (there was much more influence from Syriac than Greek or Hebrew so i think they are likely from Syriac), can you add them? AleksiB 1945 (talk) 03:46, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

Im saying they were loaned through Syriac instead of directly from Greek as contact with Greek were much lower than with Syriac, like the name giwargis which is also closer to the mlym term than Greek giorgis. The Portuguese terms are much more different like Antão, Antônio for Antony AleksiB 1945 (talk) 11:57, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

Some have changed a lot like kāhnā > kattanāṟ (-r is a suffix) and mašammašānā > śemmāśśaṉ but some are similar like peṭros > patrōsŭ. usually the vowels change and /ʕ, ʔ, h/ get deleted AleksiB 1945 (talk) 06:58, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
