Welcome

[edit]

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
  • Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
  • You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! Binarystep (talk) 19:17, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Animacy

[edit]

What's going on with this? Vininn126 (talk) 06:54, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

królik doświadczalny is basically noun + adjective, so both elements need to be declined. I changed the declension table template and now it matches the correct forms, although I'm new to declension templates, so I apologize if I used the wrong one. JimiYru 07:08, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Both elements are declined, and why would it decline like an inanimate noun? Vininn126 (talk) 07:12, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
If a polish noun uses singular forms in the plural then it's not declined.
It's fine, I figured it out. The first template argument should be m-an instead of m-anml, so it was a technical error. JimiYru 07:32, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ah yes, this is because there is a new declension module in the works and not everything has been finished yet. Vininn126 (talk) 07:37, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I see. Like I said, I'm new to wiki templates and more mistakes on my end might happen in the future, so please let me know if you find errors in my editions that are strictly technical. The inflection forms after my edit are 100% correct now. Cheers JimiYru 07:45, 20 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

archaic/dated/obsolete

[edit]

Please see their respective Glossary entries as well as Wiktionary:Obsolete_and_archaic_terms. A lot of terms from Doroszewski are better marked as obsolete. Vininn126 (talk) 08:31, 15 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Etymologies

[edit]

Some of theses are really przekombinowane, like zrozpaczony. Also please keep in mind formatting, like brąz. Finally, you might want to consider using a different etymological dictionary than Bruckner. Bańkowski isn't always better, but is better in more situations than Bruckner. Vininn126 (talk) 08:21, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

For loanwords, you might want to check out {{R:pl:WSWO}} and {{R:pl:USJP}}. Vininn126 (talk) 08:34, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring and zrzeszotnienie kości

[edit]

Checking NKJP, I cannot find a single instance of plural usage. Please keep that in mind. Vininn126 (talk) 10:13, 12 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

IPA formatting

[edit]

Hi; when you add IPA pronunciation, please add it as a list item, like this:
* {{IPA|lt|/blablabla/}}
Instead of this:
{{IPA|lt|/blablabla/}}
Thanks, -saph668 (usertalkcontribs) 17:57, 6 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

An oversight on my part. Thank you for pointing it out. JimiYru 08:52, 7 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
