Welcome, thanks, pointers to info on format
[edit]As one of the people who sometimes does edits for Modern Greek, it's great to see someone else working in that area. Welcome! And thanks or all your work. If you haven't already, you might want to take a look at WT:AEL which covers all the niggly little formatting conventions, and also particularly WT:AEL#Romanisation which covers the transliteration style used here. You'll see I tweaked Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση to match that. Anyways, great to see your work, and if you have questions you can always leave a message for me or any of the other editors on our talk page, or try irc (#wiktionary, irc.freenode.net). Happy trails! ArielGlenn 23:06, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Greek organic chemistry
[edit]Hello, we're looking for some Greek organic chemistry terms (see μέθυ). Would you be willing to create some? Many thanks. -Atelaes λάλει ἐμοί 09:02, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, I'd certainly love to help, though I suppose my knowledge of (modern) Greek organic chemistry terms is quite limited unfortunately. For instance, I really don't know what fluorochlorohydrocarbon is, whereas benzene or methane a little less difficult. Anyway, I'll see what I can do for you, though I hope you don't have too high expectations. :) AndyPandy 11:07, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
- On a side, I also get confused as to whether I should reply on my Talk page, or the topic initiator's talk page and as such, I seem to have replied on both just in case. The answer is still quite a mystery to me. AndyPandy 04:04, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- You know, that's always been a question which has confused me as well. I generally throw any talk page I leave a comment on onto my watchlist, so I saw your initial response here. However, I don't know if everyone does it (for example I don't know if you do it, so I'm leaving a comment here). :) And in regards to the o chem stuff, whatever you can dig up is whatever you can dig up. As far as I know, no lives hang in the balance. -Atelaes λάλει ἐμοί 06:18, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well Atelaes (I've decided to just leave a comment here :)), so far I'd say the mission has been rather successful. I've managed to add: The smell of progress! It's always fun when I have such assignments, but sadly, if you noticed or not, I've been a bit silent this week in terms of editing. University began last week (March 3rd) and it's really eating up my time so I never really had the chance to create much Organic-Chemistry entries apart from on weekends. Anyway, I also managed to fill in most of the Modern Greek descendant words in μέθυ like μεθώ and μέθυσος, etc, but I'm a bit tired now and I have an exam on Tuesday so I guess I should go study for that now, especially since I've only done really minimal amounts of study. Have a nice day wherever you are! :) AndyPandy 13:23, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- You have my sincere thanks. -Atelaes λάλει ἐμοί 17:56, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
You're doing Greek and I'm sort of reading it.
[edit]Logged in. I was editing defective verb. Dont see a way to sign, so I remain Allamakee Democrat.
- Hm, I am not entirely sure what you mean here, but I hope the edits make sense, though I think adding Katharevousa definitions made things a bit messier. By the way, if you want to sign an entry on a discussion/talk page, you just add four tildes ~~~~ to the end. :) AndyPandy 02:49, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Finnish inflection forms
[edit]If you're going to do this, could you at least set your changes to minor? Really, you should get a bot to do this, but....at least with minor we could ignore them. Thanks. -Atelaes λάλει ἐμοί 05:44, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- I see, okay. I'll change it to minor, though could I ask, what kind of effect would that have? I tended to not set any new pages (English verb forms/Greek noun forms) to minor since.. I didn't think that a new page would really fill into that category, but I was a bit worried that I was flooding the "Recent changes" page. As for the bot, well.. I figured, why not do it while the task is there? But if it's a bot's task, then I'll happily stop doing it.. AndyPandy 05:54, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- Generally, any automated task can reasonably be classified as minor (also, are you aware of the mark all edits as minor bit in your preferences page?). Marking it as minor allows patrollers to not see the edits by hitting the "Hide minor edits" button. If you've only got a few hundred more to do, then a bot account probably isn't necessary (I'm not completely aware of bot policy, so don't take that as binding), but if you're planning on doing this a lot, I think a bot would be an excellent idea, and people would generally support it. I for one am a big fan of getting inflected forms entries written. -Atelaes λάλει ἐμοί 06:09, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
A fellow Esperantist :)
[edit]Saluto, my fellow Esperantist! Esperanto noun, adjective, and proper noun forms have all been accelerated using Conrad.Irwin's acceleration script.
Add this line to User:AndyPandy/monobook.js to enable it (press Ctrl+F5 to hard reset your internet browser):
importScript('User:Conrad.Irwin/creation.js');
Anyways, I just thought that you might want to know about this because it will make things a lot easier for you. Cheers, Razorflame 09:46, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Saluton al vi! :) I began to learn Esperanto a few months ago, so I'm really getting into it and learning at the same time as I edit words here. Just like you, I am interested in many languages and Esperanto happens to be my new hobby. Thank you for the information regarding the accelerator script too! It should be interesting to discover how this works! :)) AndyPandy 09:59, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Interesting. That is about the same time that I started to get interested in Esperanto. I, too, have found it to be my new hobby as well. If you need any help adding IPA pronunciations to your entries, feel free to let me know on my talk page. Cheers, Razorflame 10:03, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you once again! Also, I tried the accelerator script now and it's very helpful indeed! This should make everything much easier now. And now something in Esperanto for the sake of it: Nun estas pli facila por mi krei novajn pagxojn! :) AndyPandy 10:21, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Am I correct in thinking that the Esperanto sentence you just said means: It is not easy for me to create new pages? Furthermore, I know the IPA pronunciation for Esperanto, so please don't hesitate to ask :). Cheers, Razorflame 10:33, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, you were very close! :) Nun = Now, pli facila = easier or more easy, so I tried to say "Now it is easier for me to create new pages", but you were definitely on track! :)) The negative would be "Ne" - "Ne estas facila krei.." - "It is not easy to create.." and so on. I actually learnt most of the grammar from this website: http://donh.best.vwh.net/Esperanto/rules.html - The 16 rules seemed fairly straight-forward and gave me that much needed leg up. I rely on my dictionary for vocabulary. I'm still not as fluent as I'd like to be nor am I a professional in everything, but I could still try to help in any Esperanto enquiries should you have any. Another great thing about learning Esperanto for me is that Esperantists are like a community and so it is a nice way to make friends! :) AndyPandy 11:01, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

{unindenting) Which dictionary do you use to provide yourself with vocabulary? I use single translation sites that cannot be copyrighted. Ergane and traduku.net are the two single translation websites that I use. I also uncommonly use a 572 page English to Esperanto dictionary, but I have found it to be only decently accurate instead of really accurate. I guess that is what happens when your dictionary is from the year 1908 ;). Yeah, ne is the negative sounding term, and is also used in front of words to denote non. For example, nemetala means nonmetallic. Cheers, Razorflame 11:57, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
