Rfv-sense: "(colloquial) to waste; to squander". Not in the mono- and bilingual dictionaries I have access to. ---> Tooironic (talk) 04:30, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Tooironic: You also added this sense around three years ago. This is in Xiandai Hanyu Cidian (7th edition), which I think you have access to based on previous edits: "乱花费;挥霍". It's also on Pleco. Please check a little more carefully before sending senses to RFV. (We already have a huge backlog of requests.) — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 08:55, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Justinrleung, Tooironic: This is again in Wenlin Software. ABC dictionary definition #6 "squander; spend freely" with a usage example:

- @Tooironic, Atitarev: This should be cited. I'm having trouble with understanding/translating "也得被搗騰個底兒光" in the quote from 1998. Perhaps @沈澄心 might be able to help as well? — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 15:26, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Justinrleung: That translation seems fine to me. --沈澄心✉ 02:33, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Rfv-sense: "(colloquial) to do pointless things". Not in the mono- and bilingual dictionaries I have access to. ---> Tooironic (talk) 04:29, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Tooironic: You added this sense around three years ago. This is in the Simplified Chinese-English Dictionary (Oxford Chinese Dictionary) on MacOS, which I think you have access to based on previous edits. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 08:52, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- Yes I noticed that, but I usually go by the more reliable guifan cidian which only lists the three distinct senses. Not sure if this sense can be attested. ---> Tooironic (talk)
- RFV failed. Removed by @ChromeGames923 and replaced with "to disturb; to cause trouble" (which I'm not quite sure about). — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 23:30, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Justinrleung: If you would prefer, feel free to add back the sense of "to do pointless things". I didn't realize this page existed, otherwise I probably should have commented here first. As for the sense of "to disturb", I find it in MoeDict (which gives an example from Dream of the Red Chamber) and the Cross-Strait Dictionary. Both dictionaries define the sense as 搗亂 (although MoeDict renders the English as "to play crazy", which I did not particularly like). Either way, the sense "to disturb" is also what came to mind when I was translating "...他昨兒過來大折騰了一場..." in the article 大, which I rendered as "...yesterday he came over and wildly stirred up trouble..." If you think another sense would be more fitting, please do let me know! ChromeGames923 (talk) 00:16, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- @ChromeGames923: We don't have much evidence for "to do pointless things", so it has failed verification anyway. I think the definition you replaced it with is good now. Thanks! — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 00:21, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Sounds good, and I'll make sure to check these discussion pages when I see such templates/requests next time! ChromeGames923 (talk) 01:06, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
