[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *kh₂-ró-s, from *keh₂- (“to desire”) + *-rós.[1][2] Cognate with Proto-Italic *kāros (“dear”), Latvian kārs (“lustful, desirous”), Proto-Germanic *hōraz (“adulterer”).
