Etymology

    From Proto-Indo-European *kh₂-ró-s, from *keh₂- (to desire) +‎ *-rós.[1][2] Cognate with Proto-Italic *kāros (dear), Latvian kārs (lustful, desirous), Proto-Germanic *hōraz (adulterer).
