Borrowed from French Héraclès. As with other French words with a mute h, the h is "unmuted", making this also a partial orthographic borrowing from French.

Usage notes

• Similar to the French and English uses, Hê-ra-clét is rarely ever used, unlike Héc-quyn. Compare Uy-lít-xơ (“Ulysses”).
• The "t" at the end is still pronounced as a /t/ sound in southern accents. Compare Ta-lét.
