Appendix talk:Gikun Usage in Meiji Version of Japanese Bible
Add topicSuggestions Welcome
[edit]Please feel free to post here regarding suggestions you may have to improve this Appendix. My main concern at this point is that this appendix will be an extremely large page when complete, but not sure if I need to be concerned with this as long as the page remains easy to navigate. I am interested to know what others think regarding the layout, as well as the content. Thanks for any help you can provide to help me make this Wiktionary Appendix the best it can be. 馬太阿房 (talk) 08:49, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
One section for each chapter?
[edit]How about one appendix for each chapter and sort the appendixes between the Old Testament and the New Testament? (eg. Gikun Usage in Meiji Version of Japanese Bible - Genesis) --Lo Ximiendo (talk) 09:04, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- From the point of view of somebody trying to look up words, it might make more sense to sort by first letter (or first character), and have A-Z pages. I imagine some words occur in more than one chapter, as well. Equinox ◑ 09:07, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks Lo Ximiendo and Equinox. You're right, Equinox, there might be a lot of duplicates doing it by a page for each Book (Genesis, Exodus, etc....) so I think it will make more sense to have A-Z pages. I think I'll do that if it starts getting too clunky.馬太阿房 (talk) 09:31, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
Here's something better: the reference section should be changed (such as from a template): instead of "OT"/"NT" page X, why not the selected chapter(s), verse(s), and page number (with link)? ~ POKéTalker(═◉═) 23:52, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
How to go about getting a qualified editor to review/revise content I provide in Appendix:Gikun Usage in Meiji Version of Japanese Bible?
[edit]Any ideas on how to go about doing this? Any help would be much appreciated.馬太阿房 (talk) 17:26, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Eirikr, Equinox, Erutuon, Lo Ximiendo, Shāntián Tàiláng: @馬太阿房 (Butterboy) has seen not activity, but I have two proposals in mind:
Appendix page
[edit]Instead of the heavy formatting already in place, why not something like this?
Gikun Word List

- For some reason,
{{ja-r}}
cannot link to appendix pages, so the rubies cannot be seen.
The kyūjitai and archaic verb forms should be kept, but the romanization {{ja-r}}
may be modern. ~ POKéTalker(═◉═) 23:52, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
Appendix entries
[edit]Take at my additions created myself. An example is this one: Appendix:Gikun Usage in Meiji Version of Japanese Bible/迅速, with jukujikun instead of irregular in yomi parameter of {{ja-kanjitab}}
and changing the head template in {{ja-noun}}
or {{ja-pos}}
. ~ POKéTalker(═◉═) 23:52, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

- Thanks POKéTalker for your suggestions and contributions but a few things:
1. I'd almost forgotten about this project. I guess you could say life got in the way. Would you like to pick up the batton, so to speak, and run with this worthwhile project for a while? 2. I think it is best if we continue to have the kanji tables show "Irregular" because jukujikun should be familiar readings and this list only includes highly irregular readings found only in this Bible as far as my selected resources tell me (see preface to the page for selection criteria) 3. I like your idea of showing the references but I believe there was a reason for me doing it the other way although it escapes me. Sorry. 4.I think I can get on board with your suggested layout for the list for the purpose of simplifying things. I think it looks good even though not quite so neat and tidy looking IMHO. If you'd like to reformat the whole list in that way you have my permission. I really don't know when I will be able to get back to work on this. 馬太阿房 (talk) 00:27, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- @馬太阿房: sure, there's no need for messy formatting since there are already templates to make the editing process easier. No need to be sorry, we all start somewhere. Thanks for acknowledging my edits and will do. ~ POKéTalker(═◉═) 04:23, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- @馬太阿房: Much thanks! I'm very glad that you see the worth of this project and want to spend time working on it. I will be keeping an eye on it. By the way, I noticed that in the etymologies you are putting "From...applying the 義訓 (gikun, “meaning”) reading..." I have changed this on your references page for 迅速 to the following format:
義訓 (gikun, “meaning reading”) which I think is more how this should be.
