Etymology
[edit]From Middle Chinese 般若波羅蜜多心經 (MC paen nyaeX pa la mjit ta sim keng), itself a calque of Sanskrit प्रज्ञापारमिता हृदय सूत्र (Prajñāpāramitā-hṛdaya Sūtra).
From 般若波羅蜜多 (hannya haramitta, “Perfection of Wisdom”) + 心 (shin, “heart”) + 経 (kyō, “sutra”).
