[edit]- From Jurchen [Term?] (“xoni”), from Proto-Tungusic. Cognate with Nanai хонин (honin).
- Compare also Proto-Mongolic *konïn, compare Mongolian хонь (xonʹ).
- The latter is from Proto-Turkic *koń, compare Turkish koyun.
