[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

From Jurchen *bi, which came from Proto-Tungusic *bi, whence Evenki би (bi), Even би (ʙi), Negidal би, Oroch би, Nanai ми (mi), Orok би (bi), Ulch би, and Udihe би (bi).

Compare also Mongolian би (bi), from Proto-Mongolic *bi and Proto-Turkic *ben (I). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
