Etymology

    Inherited from Middle Gujarati आविवउं, from Prakrit 𑀆𑀯𑁂𑀇 (āvei), from Sanskrit आपयति (āpayati), from आप् (āp) + -अयति (-ayati). Cognate with Hindustani آنا / आना (ānā), Mewari आणो (āṇo), Nepali आउनु (āunu), Punjabi آؤنا / ਆਉਣਾ (āuṇā), Romani avel.
