    Inherited from Prakrit 𑀪𑀺𑀝𑁆𑀝𑀺𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀇 (bhiṭṭijjaï, to meet), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀪𑀺𑀝𑁆 (*bhiṭ). Doublet of ভিড় (bhiṛ), ভিড়ানো (bhiṛanō), and ভেট (bheṭ).
