From Proto-Indo-Iranian *sawH-, from Proto-Indo-European *sewH- (to push (forth)). Cognate with Hittite [script needed] (šu-ú-iz-zi, to push (away), shove, cast off), Old Irish soïd (to turn).[3][4]
