[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀲𑀤𑁆𑀥𑀸 (saddhā), from Sanskrit श्रद्धा (śraddhā, “faith, trust”), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *śraddʰáH, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ćradᶻdʰáH, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱred-dʰh₁-éh₂, from *ḱr̥dés (“heart”). Doublet of श्रद्धा (śraddhā).
