From Proto-Indo-Aryan *wandʰúras, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *wandʰúras, from Proto-Indo-European *wendʰ- (to turn, wind). Cognate with Armenian վանդակ (vandak), English wander.

      कु॒वित्सोम॒स्यापा॒मिति॑ ॥
      aháṃ táṣṭeva vandhúraṃ páryacāmi hṛdā́ matím.
      kuvítsómasyā́pāmíti.
      I revolve the song of praise in my heart as a carpenter (making) a charioteer's seat, for I have indeed drunk the Soma.
