Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-Iranian *ráwčas (“light”), from Proto-Indo-European *léwk-os, from *lewk- (“to shine”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬭𐬀𐬊𐬗𐬀𐬵 (raocah), Old Persian 𐎼𐎢𐎨𐏃 (r-u-c-h /raucah/).
