    Inherited from Prakrit 𑀨𑀸𑀟𑁂𑀇 (phāḍei), from Sanskrit स्फाटयति (sphāṭayati, to cause to split).[1]

      He tore my cloth and threw it away.

    3. to part, open wide (e.g. one's eyes)
    4. to congeal, coagulate (e.g. milk into curds)
