Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀧𑀺𑀆𑀭 m (piāra, love), from Sanskrit प्रिय n (priya, love, kindness, favour, pleasure) + कार (kāra, act) (compare with the actual compound प्रियकार (priyakāra, agreeable, doing a kindness, adjective)).
