[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘢𑘳𑘭𑘜𑘹 (pusaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀧𑀼𑀲𑀇 (pusaï), from Sanskrit प्रोञ्छति (proñchati). Cognate with Hindi पोंछना (põchnā), Bengali পুছা(pucha), Assamese মচা (mosa).
