[edit]Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀞𑀻𑀓𑁆𑀓 (*ṭhīkka), probably from [script needed] (*ṭhiakka-), from Sanskrit स्थित (sthita, “situated; firm”). Related to ठिकाना (ṭhikānā), and cognate with Punjabi ਠੀਕ (ṭhīk) / ٹھِیک (ṭhīk), Gujarati ઠીક (ṭhīk), Sindhi ٺيِڪُ / ठीकु, Marathi ठीक (ṭhīk), Odia ଠିକ (ṭhika), Bengali ঠিক (ṭhik), Assamese ঠিক (thik).
