Cognate with Parthian 𐫜𐫡𐫀𐫝 (frʾc /frāž/, “forward, forth; near”), Northern Kurdish firaja (“gosling, poult”) and firêj kirin (“to advance, to make progress”), Central Kurdish فراژاندن (frajandin, “to advance, to progress, to elevate, to exalt”), فراژ (fraj) or هەراش (heraş, “advanced, elevated, exalted”), Middle Armenian վռազ (vṙaz).
