[edit]From the root ص ن ب ر (ṣ n b r) meaning “bitter cold”, “weather requiring hardiness to endure”, a variant of ص ب ر (ṣ b r) “enduring”, “patient”, “persevering”; so named for the tree being a winter-enduring evergreen tree.
