[edit]Borrowed from Persian تازیانه (tâziyâne, “whip”), from Middle Persian [script needed] (tʾcʾnk' /tāzānag/).

- whip, lash, a pliant, flexible instrument used to direct and herd animals, or to strike a person as a punishment
- plectrum, a small piece of metal, ivory, etc., for plucking the strings of an instrument, such as a lyre, guitar, etc.
- Synonym: مضراب (mızrab)
