Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ogul (“son”); cognate with Old Turkic 𐰆𐰍𐰞 (oğul), Azerbaijani oğul, Bashkir ул (ul), Chuvash ывӑл (yvăl), Kazakh ұл (ūl), Kyrgyz уул (uul), Turkmen ogul, Uyghur ئوغۇل (oghul), Uzbek oʻgʻil and Yakut уол (uol).

1. son, boy, a male offspring, a boy or a man in relation to his parents
