Borrowed from Iranian. Compare Avestan 𐬬𐬍𐬐𐬀𐬌𐬌𐬀 (vīkaiia), Parthian 𐫇𐫏𐫃𐫀𐫆 (wygʾẖ /⁠wigāh⁠/), Middle Persian [script needed] (gwkʾdy /⁠gugāy⁠/), Persian گواه (govâh, witness) and see the latter for more.
