[edit]Inherited from Old Slovak listie, from Proto-Slavic *listьje. Cognates include Belarusian лісцё (liscjó), Polish liście, Russian ли́стья (lístʹja) and Ukrainian ли́стя (lýstja). By surface analysis, лїст (ljist) + -е (-e).
