[edit]Learned borrowing from French psychiatre, from Ancient Greek ψυχ- (psukh-), ψυχή f (psukhḗ, “soul”) + ἰατρός (iatrós, “physician”). By surface analysis, ψυχ- (psych-, “psych-”) + ιατρός (iatrós, “physician”).
