[edit]Learnedly from οικονομ(ία) (oikonom(ía)) + -ο- (-o-) + -λόγος (-lógos), a loose calque of French économiste, from Ancient Greek οἰκονομ(ία) (oikonom(ía)) + -ιστής (-istḗs).[1]
