Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Learned borrowing from Koine Greek κόμμω(σις) (kómmō(sis), “sophisticated treatment”) + modern suffix -ση (-si).[1] The traditional connection to κόμη (kómē, “hair of the head”) appears to be folk etymology.
