[edit]Inherited from Byzantine Greek κεράσι(ν) (kerási(n), “cherry”) < Koine Greek κεράσιον (kerásion) a diminutive of Ancient Greek κέρασος or κερασός (kérasos or kerasós, “cherry tree”).[1]
