[edit]From Ancient Greek ζῶ (zô), ζάω (záō), from earlier ζώω (zṓō), from Proto-Hellenic *ďṓwō, from *gʷyṓwō, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷyéh₃woh₂.
Cognate with Mariupol Greek зу (zu).
