Etymology

According to Petrounias[1] αν- (an-, α- privative) +‎ έξοδο (éxodo, expense) +‎ -ος (-os), different from the Hellenistic ἀνέξοδος (anéxodos, without outlet). According to Babiniotis,[2] from ἀνέξοδος (anéxodos), the modern sense being attested since 4th century.
