Etymology
[edit]Learnedly, from Ancient Greek ἀγνώμων (agnṓmōn, “opinionless, lacking any judgement, hard-hearted,”), from Ancient Greek ἀ- (a-, “un-”) (α- (a-) privative) + γνώμη (gnṓmē, “opinion, counsel”). Semantic loan from French ingrat. Also substantivised.[1]
