[edit]As Koine adjective θεοτόκος (theotókos), substantivised feminine noun < Θεός (Theós, “God”) + τόκος (tókos, “childbirth; offspring”) from τίκτω (tíktō, “I beget”). Sense "Virgin Mary" already by Origen of Alexandria (c. 185 – c. 253).
