[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish چوملك (çömlek, “an earthenware pot, especially a pipkin used in cooking”),[1][2] derived from Proto-Turkic *čöŋgek (“a kettle, pitcher”), further origin is unknown.[3]
Cognates with Azerbaijani çölmə, Chuvash чӳлмек (čülmek), Crimean Tatar çülmek, Kazakh шөлмэк (şölmék), Kyrgyz чөлмөк (cölmök), Nogai шоьлмек (şölmek), Tatar чүлмәк (çülmäk).
