From Middle Dutch verrukken, from Old Dutch *firrukken, from Proto-West Germanic *frarukkijan. Equivalent to ver- +‎ rukken. Cognate with German Low German verrücken, German verrücken, Saterland Frisian ferrukje, ferrukke.
