[edit]Borrowed from Latin troglodyticus, from Ancient Greek τρωγλοδυτικός (trōglodutikós), from τρωγλοδύτης (trōglodútēs, “cave-/hole-dweller”) from τρώγλη (trṓglē, “hole”) + δύω (dúō, “enter, go into”). By surface analysis, troglodita + -ico.
