Borrowed from Latin troglodyticus, from Ancient Greek τρωγλοδυτικός (trōglodutikós, of cave-/hole-dwellers) from τρωγλοδύτης (trōglodútēs, cave-/hole-dweller) from τρώγλη (trṓglē, hole) + δύω (dúō, enter, go into).
