  1. (intransitive) to taxi (to move on the ground on its wheels)
Upon being cleared to depart, KLM 4805 followed the Clipper onto the runway. The taxiways were also full of parked aircraft, so in order to reach the runway in use (30), the KLM aircraft had to taxi along the runway itself from runway 12. Although taxiway C4, which provides access to runway 30, was free, the Tower instructed the crew of the Rhine River to make a bac-track, a 180-degree turn on the runway itself. Since it was ahead, the KLM had to taxi, line up and wait for the Pan Am to also taxi, but clear the other free taxiway, C3, at 145° to its left, from where it would reach the holding point.
