[edit]From Ottoman Turkish صولانمق (ṣulanmaḳ, “to become water, watery or juicy, to become provided with watered, to be watered”),[1] from Ottoman Turkish صولامق (ṣulamaḳ, “to water, to pay money down, to temper steel by applying water”), from Ottoman Turkish صو (ṣu, “water”), from Proto-Turkic *sub (“water”),[2][3] morphologically su + -la + -n + -tı.
