Inherited from Proto-Slavic *sъtoka. Cognate with Lower Sorbian skót, Russian скот (skot), Old Church Slavonic скотъ (skotŭ), Czech skot, Polish skot. Possibly related to Proto-Germanic *skatta-.[1][2] Possibly related to steći.
