[edit]Borrowed from Ukrainian різати (rizaty), from Old Ruthenian рѣзати (rězati),[1] from Proto-Slavic *rězati, from Proto-Balto-Slavic *rḗˀźtei, from Proto-Indo-European *wréh₁ǵyeti, from the root *wreh₁ǵ-. Doublet of rzezać, an inherited form.
