Catalan

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

From rapina, and earlier form of rapinya. The change of n to ny is probably due to the influence of other verbs ending in -inyar and in turn influenced the form of the noun. Cognate with Spanish rapiñar, which underwent a similar change.
